In Defense of Kristin Kreuk

This article is written in response to

–Why is Kristin Kreuk a hypocrite?

A hypocrite is someone who does not do what they say or does what they say not to do. The author of this hit piece does not say what makes Kristin a hypocrite according to the definition of the term.

–It’s staying with the pedophile/rapist even when she is named in the expose that named him as such in February 2012.

The author is referring to an article written for the Times Union in February 2012 by James Odato.

“Staying with the pedophile/rapist” is loaded language. First of all, it presupposes that Kristin was “with Raniere” in some personal manner other than via an indirect student/recruiter/company assocation. Second of all, it presupposes that Kristin knew of such transgressions alleged of Raniere. If and when she read the article is not public knowledge. Third of all, she may not have believed in the allegations even if she read it, at least for some time. She was in NXIVM for several years at that point and had made many friends in it and maybe she gave them the benefit of the doubt over the media as personal relationships take precedence over non-personal ones. Regardless, she left soon after the expose at the end of 2012/the beginning of 2013, so she wasn’t there for long after expose, so perhaps she did indeed leave because of it. Fourth of all, taking NXIVM courses and recruiting for them many years prior to such an exposure is in no way an endorsement for any alleged pedophile/rapist behavior of the person who created them (or ripped them off depending upon who you ask), especially when the content of those courses have nothing to do with such behavior. This is simply an impotent defamatory attempt at guilt by association by the author.

NXIVM was a for-profit corporation with a valid tax id which sold self-help and executive success programs which claimed to help people achieve success in whatever career path they chose. In the article, Kristin Kreuk was named with several other famous people here: According to it, she was referred to only as a student and recruiter. Since NXIVM’s business model is multi-level marketing (MLM) and depends upon on recruitment to make money, students who find it beneficial are often asked to recruit for it, and many choose to do so out of gratitude and/or to make additional income. There is nothing illegal or nefarious about such activity as MLMs are legal in the USA. This was the extent of Kristin’s involvement in NXIVM as described in the article. Keith Raniere has always been described as the conceptual founder of NXIVM, who licensed what seems to be a perpetually “patent-pending” technology to the corporation, but he was never a member of the board or an employee of the company, and it is well known that he did not deal with everyone who took courses in NXIVM on an individual or personal level.

–Being named in an anti-NXIVM lawsuit

The lawsuit the author is referring to is one put forth in 2012 by one Joe O’Hara – a consultant who worked with NXIVM for a period of time – linked here:

Kristin was named in a list of dozens of people.

–as a likely defender and enabler, while claiming she never “experienced any illegal or nefarious activity”.

This is a non-sequitur. Being named in a lawsuit in 2012 and Kristin asserting she never experienced the above in her March 2018 public statement that still exists on her verified Twitter and Instagram accounts are two distinct events separated by approximately six years which don’t have anything to do with each other. A lawsuit makes particular claims and offers evidence for them. It is for a court of law to determine whether such a lawsuit has merit and then rule upon the question of its validity.

First of all, Kristin may never have known about the lawsuit since it never went to court because it was “dismissed with prejudice”. What this phrase implies is the following:

“A court has inherent power to dismiss an action with prejudice if it is vexatious, brought in bad faith, or when there has been a failure to prosecute it within a reasonable time. When a plaintiff who has commenced an action fails to comply with discovery devices, a court, which has issued the order of compliance, may sua sponte dismiss the case with prejudice.

In criminal prosecutions, dismissal with prejudice bars the government from prosecuting the accused later on the same charge.”

This means that the lawsuit never went to court and so necessarily none of its claims could possibly have been evidenced nor resolved in a court of law. Not only that, the lawsuit no longer has any basis and cannot be brought to court again.

Second of all, the lawsuit states the following after the list of people in which Kristin Kreuk is included is presented:

“Based upon information and belief, there are numerous other individuals who have (a) assisted NXIVM/ESP and/or other named and to-be-named Defendants with respect to a variety of tortious and/or illegal activities – and/or (b) benefitted financially from the operations of the various NXIVM/ESP-Related Business Entities. Although many of these individuals will be identified during the course of discovery with respect to this lawsuit, the following individuals have already been identified as likely members of one or both of those groups:”

First of all, (a) implies that anyone who took part in a number of NXIVM courses and recruited for them “assisted” them in such activities, but it never claims that they did so knowingly. Second of all, due to what the “and/or” logical phrase entails according to the meaning of the phrase, it may be such that the people listed inclusive of Kristin are merely “guilty of” benefiting “financially from the operations of the various NXIVM/ESP-Related Business entities”, by earning income due to commissions for recruitment and/or coaching for NXIVM. It doesn’t claim that she knew of nor participated in an alleged massive tax evasion scheme or anything else that could be deemed illegal.

–What John Tighe, a serious player in the anti-NXIVM movement,

John Tighe is a resident of Saratoga Springs currently in jail for child pornography – claims of planted evidence notwithstanding – who had an anti-NXIVM blog from around 2009-2012. Apparently, he started his fight with NXIVM because he did not like its strong-arm involvement in the politics of his local community. “Serious player” in some non-existent “anti-NXIVM movement” is more loaded language that has no basis in reality.

–said about the 2010 Necker Island trip about them plotting money laundering. He named the executive board and their roles. They were all named in the lawsuit. He revealed information about others involved with crimes. They too were named in the lawsuit. Mark Hildreth and Allison Mack were also named.

What John Tighe said is referenced here:

The only claim made of Kristin Kreuk by John Tighe is the following: “Next, renowned filmmaker Mark Vicente was named Executive of Enrollment. A charismatic speaker, he had teamed with the Canadians Mark Hildreth, Kristin Kreuk and Allison Mack to sell NXIVM … in Vancouver”

The ellispes is a removal of the term “poison”, i.e., “NXIVM poison”. You can verify this by checking the actual content of blog that exists on the internet “Way Back Machine”. So even according to John Tighe, Kristin was never implicitly or explicitly said to be involved in the alleged and non-evidenced claims of money laundering and/or other illegal activities that were supposedly planned on the island. This is just another weak attempt at guilt by association. The Necker Island trip was likely nothing more than a mixture of pleasure and business as opposed to some conspiracy to commit illegal actions. One also has to wonder from whom John Tighe obtained his information from to make such claims since he was never on the island and so could not be privy to any discussions that occurred there.

–Then there is Girls By Design (GbD).

Girls by Design is a company formed by Kendra Voth and Kristin Kreuk according to themselves on their FAQ as of June 29, 2012 with the mission “to bring teens together and aid them in building a strong sense of self, and an ability to empathize with those around them. GBD workshops are built around creativity, fun and holistic learning.”

–“Jane”, the DOS slave,

“Jane” is an alias for an alleged DOS slave who has only ever been mentioned on websites run by Frank Parlato such as here: This alleged DOS slave claims that she was a member of GbD. As far as any verifiable evidence is concerned, none has ever been provided. An assertion has been made by Frank Parlato that she exists as a person and is who “she said she was”. No verification has ever been done for her alleged membership in GbD nor for the truth of the the contents of her story by anyone inclusive of Frank Parlato. He has only published her alleged story on his websites.

–revealed some serious allegations that GBD was Kreuk’s way of teaching young girls about a “feminist approach to BDSM”. That she was recruited into NXIVM via GBD through Kreuk and ended up a DOS slave,

Serious allegations require correspndingly serious evidence and none has ever been provided. A story provided by an anonymous person making it unfalsifiable that has been detailed on websites that have been intentionally engaged in the slandering of Kristin Kreuk for several months now does not constitute such.

If this person had any credibility and truth to their story, they would have already gone to the authorities and made a statement, especially since the majority of inner circle members of NXIVM have been indicted and/or are locked up currently awaiting trial. This person would have nothing to fear and wouldn’t have released it to the maintainer of a website hardly considered to be an authoritative journalistic source, and whose recent pattern of behavior when it comes to Kristin Kreuk suggests an attempt to spread malicious rumors and innuendo about her, a person the authorities don’t even seem to be interested in at all.

–despite Kreuks public lie that GBD has nothing to do with NXIVM,

The claim that this is lie has never been evidenced or proven. To be proven to be a lie, an association between NXIVM and GbD has to be shown and it has never been done. First of all, it must be defined as to what the phrase “nothing to do with NXIVM” means. It is a known fact that Kristin and Kendra took NXIVM courses that claimed to provide a foundation to help people create and grow businesses of their own. These businesses may or may not have a relationship with NXIVM. In the case of GbD, there has never been any such legally binding business affiliation between the leadership of NXIVM either as board members, investors, employeees, etc., and Kristin and Kendra have denied that there ever was via this statement:

“Hi, All,

We have been reading up on the latest news and concerns from many of you in regards to what GBD is all about and what our intent with the company is. We really appreciate that you share our concerns in regards to the safely of teens. Please know that GBD is not affiliated with NXIVM or the Executive Success Programs. GBD is also not a part of 10C (the college project), A cappella Innovations or Juicy Peach.

GBD has been an independent project in the works since it was a budding idea many years ago when Kristin came to face many challenges as a young woman in her career. This project is something that we are both very proud of and invested in. Our mission is clearly stated on our coming soon page; we want to create a place where all teen girls can come together to explore, express and create (projects) and realize their potential together.

We have found very few supportive safe places online for girls to interact and participate. It’s our goal to have a cool, fun environment where teen girls go to spend time with friends, make new friends, get involved in projects, and proudly share their accomplishments with their family and friends.

The financial model will be a traditional internet model with no membership fees and accessible to all :).

We both sincerely hope this clears up any concerns you may have.

Kristin and Kendra””

–despite the fact that it was her NXIVM business.

Again, no evidence has ever been provided to prove that GbD is a “NXIVM business” whatever that means. If this author is suggesting some sort of underhanded connection between GbD and NXIVM, they must offer substanial evidence to prove such a linkage. Alleging that Kristin and Kendra lied suggesting some underhanded conspiracy without any evidence for it is a mere claim and doesn’t pass any smell test whatsoever.

–What an ex-GBD member said on this site about Kreuk and Kendra Voth (who Kreuk recruited into NXIVM) getting little girls to fill out questionnaires and if they said something they liked, would be contacted in private. What were those questionnaires for?

See above about what has already detailed concerning “Jane”.

–When NXIVM was exposed on this site and elsewhere for branding sex slaves, with a woman Kreuk recruited being second in command, [Allison Mack] with her initials scorched above the vaginas of women (and that of a GBD member?) and Kreuk was more silent then a mouse fart in a thunderstorm.

Kristin is not responsible for Allison Mack who is a grown woman in her mid thirties. Just because Allison was recruited to take courses in NXIVM by Kristin doesn’t make Kristin resposible or guilty for any actions Allison Mack committed either immediately after recruitment or several years after it. Unless coerced, everyone is responsible for their own actions.

–She was being called out on this site to help draw attention to the story. Nothing.

Who cares about what the site called her out for? She’s under no obligation to the site. When she made her statement in March 2018 after the arrest of Keith Raniere she stated she left NXIVM five years prior. Her past association was obviously no longer relevant to her life.

–Frank and Catherine Oxenberg made an effort to get Mack out.

How would you know Kristin didn’t attempt to do so?

Regardless, so? Did Frank succeed in getting Allison out? No. Did Catherine Oxenberg? No. What does Allison Mack have to do with anything? It’s not Kristin’s responsibility to extricate Allison from a cult just because she introduced her to NXIVM courses.

–What did Kreuk do? She took huge amounts of other people’s hard earned wages

First of all, this is a non-sequitur. What does the suggestion that Kristin is responsible for extricating Allison Mack from a cult and failed to do so have to do with taking large sums of money. Second of all, there is no evidence whatsoever given that “she took huge amounts of other people’s hard earned wages”. If the author is suggesting that some taxpayer money was used for her show, such money is government allocated and distributed by representatives who were voted into office by the people of her country. So, such a statement is so discordant with reality it is obviously just more loaded language intended to be malicious.

–to portray herself as the savior of little girl victims, taking on her “straight white male” pedophile rapist criminal father.

More loaded language and just outright misrepresentation. On the first season of the show “Burden of Truth”, Kristin’s character was a lawyer who represented a group of teenage girls who got sick because toxic chemicals were illegally disposed of by a company on their school practice field. Her “straight white male” father in the show defends the company against such an accusation. There is nothing in the show that suggests that there is some generalization of all “straight white males” as pedophiles and rapists that is endorsed by Kristin and it is utterly ridiculous to presume such. Kristin’s own father is a “straight white male”. Also, that Kristin represents a character who disapproves of and is disgusted by the philandering behavior of her father she comes to learn of doesn’t make Kristin a hypocrite because she hasn’t “taken on” Keith Raniere for such behavior in real life. Kristin’s character isn’t taking on her father for this behavior. She’s taking him on in court.

Actors play all sorts of characters in entertainment. If they play a murderer, it doesn’t mean they endorse murder. If they play a thief, it doesn’t mean they endorse stealing. Mel Gibson isn’t going to take the torture his character William Wallace suffered in the film “Braveheart” and yell “Freedom!” in real life. Character portrayal isn’t an endorsement for character behavior. The author needs to distinguish between fantasy and reality.

–The woman who stayed loyal to a pedophile in real life,

This claim has already been answered above.

–ignoring new allegations about him because she does not want to lose her fame/financial privileges.

This is false. If she made a public statement in March 2018 about the current events surrounding NXIVM she couldn’t have possibly ignored what was alleged about him.

–That is serious hypocrisy.

The author obviously doesn’t know the definition of hypocrisy.

–The woman who would not utter the names Keith Raniere and Allison Mack, thinks she gets to condemn Harvey Weinstein and sign an open letter against a guy accused of inappropriate behavior towards women, like she is morally above him.

What does explicitly naming people have to do with disagreeing with their behavior? How Kristin feels about the current events is obvious in her public statement to anyone who can read.

–The woman who attaches herself to a documentary about an alleged Indian gang rape victim and tells stupid, gullible people to hand over their money to fund it.

What does supporting a particular documentary have to do with anything? Also, it’s obvious to anyone that Kristin has supported the documentary with her own money. That’s what producers do. She obviously didn’t put up all of the money for it as the vast majority of such productions have multiple producers, and she only asked for donations if anyone wanted to help the project. So what?

–The sanctimonious, self righteous virtue signalling at a time when she should of and could of shown some level of moral courage and decency to help expose NXIVM.

She has no reason to “expose” NXIVM since she left it in 2013, said she witnessed nothing nefarious or illegal, and obviously moved on from it.

–An obligation, seeing as she helped use her fame to fight off the cult label, presumably even after that filth was exposed as a pedophile.

The author once again doesn’t know what the definition of obligation is.

–Having people go to the press on her behalf to lie for her.

Another malicious claim about her lying without the evidence to back it up.

–Susan Dones, a woman whose center Kreuk coached at in Tacoma, who came under serious attack from NXIVM, ignored by Kristin Kreuk, who still came forward to either lie for Kreuk by saying she left shortly after she did in 2009, or who simply misspoke. What did Kreuk do to help Susan Dones?

Or Susan Dones simply was mistaken about the exact time frame. This is another likely possibility. Claiming that Susan Dones lied for Kristin doesn’t mean she did. Apparently the author says everyone is lying who happens to say something contrary to what he wants to believe.

–That weak statement she released late March 2018 when the press forced it out of her. Not to help victims, but to help herself. No mention of being a coach and recruiter. No mention of teaching people on intensives to ignore the cult label.

“Weak” is subjective. For example, I think it was “strong”. She likely made the statement to clear up any misconceptions where she was linked to the hidden DOS “sex cult” within NXIVM that was being wrongfully conflated with it, and also to publicly clear the air on what she experienced in NXIVM and for how long.

–A deliberate lie carefully using the words “never experienced” in regards to crimes.

Is the author seriously this dumb? Experienced is about as general as you can get and subsumes notions such as witnessing with the senses, understanding with the intellect, or acting upon.

–She was on the Striped Path, having spent thousands on this bullshit

She can spend her own money on what she wants since she earned it, whether one thinks it’s bullshit or not.

–and pretending she didn’t know anything. Nothing at all.

How does the author know she knew something, whatever that is? He’s made a claim that she “pretended” she didn’t know something. What exactly did she “pretend” not to know and where is his evidence for it?

–No acknowledgement she recruited Allison Mack.

So what? This fact is common knowledge by anyone who has read or watched anything of significance related to NXIVM, Kristin, and Allison and she’s never denied that she did.

—Also, her claim about joining at 23 and leaving “about five years ago”. Very vague and worded in such a manner that she doesn’t want people to know how long she was there. Careful PR.

It’s elementary math. She said she joined at 23 – she actually took her first class around June 2006. She made her statement in March 2018 stating she left about five years prior to that. This means she left at the end of 2012/early 2013 and she was thirty at the time being born in December 1982, so that means she was taking classes and involved in NXIVM for approximately 6.5 years. A junior high student could solve for it. Is the author this dumb to think this math is difficult to figure out and that she was trying to fool people with such a description?

–Others have claimed she was still involved with NXIVM in 2015 which would mean she lied about that too.

The author needs to provide the evidence for these other people.

–Basically, if you were a Taliban bomb maker, you can’t condemn a ISIS bomb maker (Sultan?) for doing the same thing.

Huh? People can show remorse and change. Plenty of drug users have said they shouldn’t have done them after the fact and tell others not to do them. Some of them volunteer at schools and tell students this. Regardless, this analogy isn’t even relevant and is also a non-sequitur.

–Kreuk has no business to attach herself to women’s rights type stuff based on her behavior and deliberate silence on it. Plenty of opportunities, none taken.

The author of this hit piece has no business arguing. He sucks at it.
